Dr. Jason Ortman

Dr. Jason Ortman owns and operates Castle Pines Eye Care in Castle Rock, Colorado.   Dr. Jason Ortman a Colorado eye doctor dedicated to providing expert vision and  eye care services to his patients.

Dr. Jason Ortman grew up in Northeastern Ohio and received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Indiana University. He then went on to earn his Doctor of Optometry at The Ohio State University. At Ohio State, Dr. Ortman was President of Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society and received the Corning Award for Excellence in Low Vision Services. He then completed a residency in ocular disease and hospital-based Optometry at the New Mexico Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Albuquerque. Dr. Ortman moved to Denver in 2001 and practiced in Lakewood for 5 years before joining Castle Pines Eye Care.

In addition to primary eye care, Dr. Ortman specializes in hard-to-fit contact lenses and ocular disease. He also enjoys participating in charitable healthcare missions. Since 1998, Dr. Ortman has worked with non-profit groups to provide eye care in Guyana, Costa Rica, Mexico, Honduras, China, and here in Colorado.

Dr. Ortman is a member of both the American Optometric Association and the Colorado Optometric Association where he serves on several committees. He is also a board member of the Castle Pines Kiwanis Club, which supports children's causes throughout Douglas County. In his leisure time, Dr. Ortman enjoys skiing, traveling and spending time with his wife Lisa and children Caroline and Joshua.

Valerie, Office Manager

Valerie joined our team this spring as our Office Manager.  Before moving to Colorado three years ago, she resided in a suburb of Chicago for 23 years.  She loves the sunshine, mountains, and lack of humidity that Colorado offers!  Valerie is married to her great husband and has two "babies" (a border collie and an Australian shepherd).  She enjoys running, hiking, reading, organizing, decorating, and a good movie.  After wearing glasses since age five, Valerie loves to see people find great frames to fit their style and when we're able to help solve patients' vision problems.

Michelle, Optical Manager

Michelle grew up in Columbia, South Carolina.  She attended Asbury College in Wilmore, KY.  Before Michelle relocated to Colorado in 2002, she lived outside of Chicago.  She was the director of a preschool there with over 200 students.  She loves kids!  Michelle has six years experience in the optical field.  She enjoys helping each person bring their fashion and style to their glasses. 

In her off time, Michelle loves hanging out with her three children:  Cecilia, Julia, and Stace.  She tries to keep up with them skiing, but tends to still get left behind on the black diamonds.  Michelle enjoys swing dancing, and fencing with her husband Zack.  She loves to be outside as much as possible working in her yard or reading.  Michelle's favorite books are from The Gunslinger Series by Stephen King.

Nancy, Optometric Technician

Nancy was born and raised on the "north side" of Chicago.  She now resides in Castle Rock with her husband and two children.  Nancy enjoys volunteering at her daughter's school, shopping at "The Barn" and attending local events.  You'll see her friendly face at the front desk when you walk in our office.  She also trains our new contact lens wearers. 

Sue, Optometric Technician, Optician

Sue comes to the optical world with experience in retail sales and banking.  She has been a resident of Castle Pines North for almost seven years.  Sue was raised in an Air Force family, so she traveled the world before settling in Colorado and marrying her husband Randy.  She has two daughters who attend local schools and keep her busy with activities and shopping.  Sue loves to spend time with her family, reading, cooking, biking and watching cooking shows.  She likes to work out, take walks, and is enjoying power yoga.  Sue and her family love to hike and have done several 14-ers together and hope to tackle more this season.

Kristi , Optometric Technician, Optician

Kristi joins us with an extensive optical history.  She recently moved back to Colorado from Florida.  Kristi is a perfectionist when it comes to adjusting frames!  She splits her time between our office and teaching music lessons.  She also loves to perform at many local venues!

Kalynn, Optometric Technician / Optician

Kalynn has been with our office for a year, and has loved growing in the profession in that time.  She comes with a medical background as a Certified Medical Assistant.  Kalynn and her husband were recently blessed with the birth of their first child.   She is a Colorado native and currently resides in Castle Pines North. 

Kindy, Optometric Technician

Kindy has been working in optometry for eight years both in Arizona and now in Colorado.  She is a native of Arizona and recently moved to Colorado two and a half years ago.  She lives nearby with her husband and 1 1/2 year old daughter.  Kindy loves to fish, camp, and travel.  She also loves crafts and is constantly inspiring us with her work.
